Overview

OBP-2011 is an orally available small molecule compound developed to specifically inhibit the replication of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. The drug has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical studies against SARS-CoV-2 and has also shown effects against other coronaviruses such as SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome). OBP-2011 is being developed by Oncolys BioPharma in collaboration with Kagoshima University, with a focus on providing an antiviral therapy that can be administered orally to suppress viral replication. As of now, it remains in preclinical development[1][3].
