OBP-2201 is an autologous, genetically modified chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Opal Bio Pharma. It is designed as a biosimilar candidate of lisocabtagene maraleucel (Breyanzi), targeting the CD19 antigen expressed on the surface of B-cells. The therapy involves harvesting a patient's T-cells, genetically engineering them to express a CAR targeting CD19, and reinfusing them to selectively target and eliminate malignant B-cells. OBP-2201 is currently in development for the treatment of various types of B-cell lymphoma, aiming to provide a highly accessible and cost-effective advanced therapeutic option in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
