OBP-702 is a telomerase-specific oncolytic adenovirus genetically engineered to express the p53 tumor suppressor gene. It selectively infects and replicates in telomerase-positive tumor cells, delivering p53 and inducing cancer cell apoptosis and autophagy, ultimately leading to direct tumor lysis as well as the stimulation of anti-tumor immune responses. OBP-702 has been shown to promote long-term activation of memory CD8+ T cells in immunologically cold tumors, such as pancreatic cancer, and demonstrates preclinical efficacy in various solid tumor models including pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer irrespective of KRAS/BRAF mutation status. It is also being investigated for its ability to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy (e.g., immune checkpoint inhibitors) in combination regimens[1][3][4][5].
