OC-10X

OC-10X is a small molecule drug developed by OcuCure Therapeutics for ophthalmic use. It is a highly lipid-soluble quinazolinone compound with a low molecular weight (300 Da), formulated as a topical eye drop. OC-10X acts as a selective tubulin inhibitor, disrupting microtubule function in proliferating vascular endothelial cells and thereby inhibiting angiogenesis and promoting regression of abnormal blood vessels. Its mechanism of action is independent of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathways, distinguishing it from other antiangiogenic therapies. Preclinical studies demonstrated that OC-10X achieves therapeutic concentrations in the retina, vitreous, and choroid with minimal toxicity. The drug was investigated primarily for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), both major causes of vision loss due to pathological neovascularization[1][3][4][6][7].
