OC1 peptide is a bioactive peptide derived from hazelnuts (Corylus avellana L.) that has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in in vitro models of Alzheimer's disease. It works by ameliorating cell viability, improving G2/M phase arrest, reversing late apoptosis, and reducing intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation in Aβ25-35 induced PC-12 cell lines. This peptide is being investigated as a potential neuroprotective agent for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease.
