Overview

OCE-205 is a novel, selective therapeutic peptide designed as a mixed agonist-antagonist of the vasopressin 1a (V1a) receptor, with no activity at the vasopressin 2 (V2) receptor even at high concentrations. Its mechanism of action aims to relieve portal hypertension and treat complications associated with end-stage liver disease (ESLD), such as ascites and hepatorenal syndrome–acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI). By providing submaximal partial agonism at the V1a receptor, it seeks to avoid excessive vasoconstriction and fluid retention seen with nonselective full agonists. The drug has demonstrated dose-proportional pharmacokinetics, increases in mean arterial pressure, and an overall favorable safety profile in early clinical studies. It is being developed by Ocelot Bio for intravenous administration[1][4][6][7][8].
