OCID 2987

OCID 2987 is an orally bioavailable small molecule phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor developed by Orchid Research Laboratories, a subsidiary of Orchid Pharma. It was investigated for the treatment of inflammatory respiratory diseases, specifically chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. In Phase I clinical trials completed in 2012, the compound was well-tolerated and notably did not induce nausea or emesis, which are common dose-limiting side effects of other PDE4 inhibitors. Despite successful completion of early safety studies, the drug has not progressed to later-stage clinical trials and is considered discontinued.
