Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OCS Heart Enhance is an investigational ex vivo organ preservation and perfusion system developed by TransMedics for prolonged donor heart preservation. It is designed to maintain physiological coronary flow conditions for extended durations (up to 24 hours) in marginal human donor hearts that would otherwise be declined for transplantation. The OCS Heart Enhance protocol incorporates a novel, higher-viscosity priming solution (OCS Solution) and a metabolic enhancer known as the OCS Functional Enhancer (OFE). This combination supports cardiac output and aortic pressure at reduced coronary flow rates, minimizing ischemia-reperfusion injury and macroscopic edema while maintaining myocardial integrity and viability during long-term perfusion.
