Overview

Octamoxin is an irreversible and nonselective monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) of the hydrazine class. It was used as an antidepressant in the 1960s but is no longer marketed. Octamoxin functions by inhibiting both MAO-A and MAO-B enzymes, preventing the degradation of neurotransmitters like serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
