Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The octavalent human papillomavirus vaccine is a prophylactic vaccine designed to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. It is an L1 Virus-Like Particle (VLP) vaccine, meaning it contains non-infectious protein shells that mimic the outer coat of eight different HPV types, thereby stimulating an immune response without exposing the recipient to viral genetic material. The vaccine is formulated with adjuvants, specifically amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate (AAHS) and ISCOMATRIX™ (IMX), to enhance its immunogenicity. It is being developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC.
