Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Octo-Fluo (also referred to as octofluo) is a novel fluorescein-linked, octameric cyclic peptide antagonist of somatostatin receptor type 2 (SSTR2). Developed by Philochem (a subsidiary of Philogen) in collaboration with the University Hospital Zurich, Octo-Fluo functions as a bispecific adaptor molecule designed to bridge SSTR2-expressing tumor cells with anti-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) adaptor chimeric antigen receptor (AdFITC CAR) T-cells. By binding to SSTR2 on tumor cells and presenting a FITC tag to the CAR T-cells, Octo-Fluo enables on-demand, concentration-dependent activation and tumor-directed cytotoxicity. This system is being investigated for the treatment of SSTR2-positive solid tumors, including meningiomas and gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs).
