Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C2L-OCT-01 PR is a prolonged-release formulation of octreotide acetate, a synthetic somatostatin analog, developed by Ambrilia Biopharma. It was engineered using the company's proprietary C2L (Controlled Release) technology to provide a sustained therapeutic effect, allowing for extended dosing intervals of every 4 to 6 weeks, compared to the standard monthly administration of conventional long-acting formulations like Sandostatin LAR. The drug was primarily investigated for the treatment of acromegaly, a condition caused by excessive growth hormone production. Clinical development reached Phase 3, but the program was terminated following Ambrilia Biopharma's financial difficulties and subsequent restructuring in 2009.
