Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OCU-310 is an investigational ophthalmic nanoemulsion of brimonidine tartrate (0.2%) developed by Ocugen for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). Utilizing the proprietary OcuNanoE technology platform, OCU-310 is formulated as a preservative-free eye drop designed to improve the signs and symptoms of DED while enhancing tolerability. Brimonidine tartrate acts as a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, a mechanism traditionally used in glaucoma management but repurposed here to address ocular surface inflammation and redness associated with dry eye. The drug has undergone Phase 3 clinical evaluation, where its efficacy was measured using the Symptom Assessment in Dry Eye (SANDE) score and lissamine green conjunctival staining.
