Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ocuguard is a multi-ingredient nutritional supplement developed and manufactured by Orchidia Pharmaceutical, primarily for the Egyptian market. It is formulated as oral soft gelatin capsules designed to support ocular and neural health, particularly in patients with diabetic retinopathy or age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The standard Ocuguard formulation contains Ginkgo biloba leaf extract (40 mg), which is intended to improve ocular microcirculation and provide neuroprotection, alongside a suite of antioxidants including Vitamin C, Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3), Vitamin B12, Beta Carotene, Vitamin E, Selenium, and Zinc. A variant, Ocuguard LX, focuses on macular health by incorporating Lutein and Zeaxanthin. Although some clinical databases may misclassify this product as a topical ophthalmic medication, it is commercially available only as an oral supplement.
