Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OCZ-15GR is a granule formulation of OCZ-15, a small molecule potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) developed by Jiangsu Carephar Pharmaceutical. As a next-generation P-CAB, it is designed to treat acid-related gastrointestinal disorders by inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump). Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that require acid activation and bind covalently to the pump, OCZ-15GR binds reversibly and competitively to the potassium-binding site of the H+/K+-ATPase. This mechanism allows for a more rapid onset of action, higher bioavailability, and more consistent suppression of gastric acid secretion regardless of food intake. OCZ-15GR is specifically being developed as a granule dosage form, likely to provide alternative administration options for patients with swallowing difficulties or for specific clinical applications. It is currently in clinical development in China for indications such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcers.
