Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OD-01 is a proprietary, clear, aqueous, and preservative-free topical ophthalmic solution of cyclosporine developed by OcuDyne for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). It is designed to improve upon existing cyclosporine formulations, such as emulsions, by providing a non-stinging and clear solution that enhances patient tolerability and ocular surface residence time. As a calcineurin inhibitor, the active ingredient cyclosporine binds to intracellular cyclophilin to form a complex that inhibits the phosphatase activity of calcineurin. This inhibition prevents the dephosphorylation and nuclear translocation of the nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT), thereby suppressing T-cell activation and the subsequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-2 (IL-2). By reducing ocular surface inflammation, OD-01 aims to restore normal tear production and alleviate the symptoms of DED.
