Odelepran (LY2196044) is a small molecule pan-opioid receptor antagonist developed by Eli Lilly and Company for the treatment of alcohol dependence. It exhibits high binding affinity and antagonist potency across the three primary human opioid receptors: mu (μ), kappa (κ), and delta (δ). The drug was designed to modulate endogenous opioid-mediated reward pathways, which are hypothesized to drive the development and maintenance of alcohol dependence. Despite reaching Phase 2 clinical trials, where it was evaluated for its ability to reduce heavy drinking days in combination with medical management, the development program was ultimately terminated by Eli Lilly.
