Imprime PGG (odetiglucan) is a soluble yeast-derived β-1,3/1,6-glucan that acts as an innate immune activator. It functions as a pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) that binds to the Dectin-1 receptor on innate immune cells, such as neutrophils and monocytes. This binding triggers a cascade that reprograms the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, enhances antigen presentation, and promotes T cell activation. When used in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), such as pembrolizumab, Imprime PGG is intended to synergistically enhance the anti-tumor immune response. The combination has been investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials for various solid tumors, including metastatic breast cancer and advanced melanoma, by HiberCell (which acquired the program from Biothera Pharmaceuticals).
