Overview

ODM-103 is a small molecule drug developed as a catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) inhibitor. It was designed to enhance the effects of levodopa in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease by inhibiting COMT, an enzyme that degrades catecholamines such as dopamine. Preclinical studies indicated that ODM-103 is more effective than entacapone, another COMT inhibitor. The drug entered Phase 1 clinical trials to assess safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers but development was discontinued after this stage[1][5][9].
