Overview
Oenothera Biennis Oil Soft Capsule, marketed under the brand name Taizhiao, is an oral formulation of evening primrose oil developed by Dalian Aosen Pharmaceutical and its subsidiary Dalian Mingsen Pharmaceutical. The oil is a concentrated source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid. Upon ingestion, GLA is metabolically converted into dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA) and subsequently into prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). PGE1 acts as an agonist at prostaglandin E receptors, mediating anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory, and anti-platelet effects. In China, this product is approved as a pharmaceutical for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and the prevention of atherosclerosis, and it is also utilized as a nutraceutical for managing premenstrual syndrome and skin conditions like atopic dermatitis.
