Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OERIS is an extended-release injectable suspension of ondansetron, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, developed by Shilpa Medicare Limited. It is designed as a single-dose intramuscular injection to provide prophylaxis against both acute and delayed phases of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) for up to five days. By utilizing a novel drug-delivery system, OERIS aims to eliminate the need for multiple daily doses or oral follow-up medications typically required with standard ondansetron formulations. In Phase 3 clinical trials, it demonstrated a superior complete response rate of 89% compared to 82% for standard ondansetron, while maintaining a favorable safety profile with no serious adverse events reported.
