Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ITVIA PLUS is a topical combination cream developed by Amvia Biotech for the treatment of mixed skin infections. It contains four active pharmaceutical ingredients: ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic; ornidazole, a nitroimidazole with antiprotozoal and antibacterial properties; itraconazole, a triazole antifungal; and clobetasol propionate, a high-potency corticosteroid. This formulation is designed to address superficial fungal infections complicated by secondary bacterial or protozoal infections, as well as inflammatory dermatoses. Ofloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, while ornidazole causes DNA strand breakage in anaerobic organisms. Itraconazole inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis by targeting lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, and clobetasol propionate provides potent anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects through glucocorticoid receptor activation.
