Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oftalipid is an ophthalmic lipid emulsion developed by Visum Pharm for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). The product is specifically formulated to address evaporative dry eye by replenishing and stabilizing the lipid layer of the tear film, which reduces the rate of aqueous tear evaporation. Its composition includes phospholipids (soy lecithin) and medium-chain triglycerides that integrate into the tear film's lipid phase, alongside Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) to promote corneal epithelial health and Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) for its antioxidant properties. Oftalipid is used to provide long-lasting lubrication and relief from symptoms such as ocular dryness, irritation, and the sensation of a foreign body.
