OFX-514

OFX-514 is a first-in-class, oral peptide-based therapeutic being developed by Oxalo Therapeutics for the treatment of hyperoxaluria and hyperoxalemia. Inspired by the natural mechanism of the gut bacterium *Oxalobacter formigenes*, OFX-514 consists of peptides derived from bioactive factors that stimulate the intestinal oxalate-regulation pathway. Specifically, the drug is designed to promote the secretion of oxalate from the bloodstream into the intestinal lumen, thereby reducing plasma and urinary oxalate levels. This approach aims to prevent the formation of recurrent kidney stones and systemic oxalosis in patients with primary hyperoxaluria (types 1, 2, and 3) and secondary hyperoxaluria. It is currently in preclinical development.
