OGT-2115 is a small molecule inhibitor of heparanase (HPSE), an endo-β-D-glucuronidase that cleaves heparan sulfate chains in the extracellular matrix. Developed by Oxford GlycoSciences, OGT-2115 has been investigated primarily in preclinical models for its ability to inhibit tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis, particularly in multiple myeloma. By blocking heparanase activity, the compound prevents the release of sequestered growth factors and the remodeling of the tumor microenvironment. Recent research has also highlighted its potential in protecting against myeloma-related renal dysfunction by mitigating heparanase-induced kidney cellular injury.
