Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oil tea is a traditional tea beverage originating from the minority population in Guangxi, China, traditionally used for treating various ailments. Animal experiments have indicated that oil tea can reduce body weight and improve blood lipid levels. Human studies are exploring its relationship with obesity and dyslipidemia, with preliminary findings suggesting that increased consumption may be associated with a decreased risk of abdominal obesity and abnormal HDL-cholesterol. It has also shown potential in improving glucose and lipid levels in type 2 diabetic mice, with ongoing research into its molecular mechanisms, including its effects on glucose homeostasis and pathways like glycolysis/gluconeogenesis and the enzyme PCK1.
