Overview

OK99 stem cells are an allogeneic human neural progenitor cell therapy being developed by Celavie Biosciences for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, in which undifferentiated neural stem cells are surgically implanted into the striatum to promote repair of damaged dopaminergic circuits.[3][6][7] The product consists of banked human neural progenitor cells intended to survive, migrate, and differentiate within the host brain, thereby replacing lost or dysfunctional neurons and/or secreting trophic factors that stimulate endogenous repair mechanisms and restore motor function in severe Parkinson’s disease.[3][6][7] Early phase clinical work in patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease has been initiated to evaluate safety and preliminary efficacy of OK99 transplantation.[3][6][7][11]
