*Okoubaka aubrevillei* is a rare tropical hardwood tree native to West Africa whose stem bark is extensively utilized in traditional medicine and homeopathy. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal ailments, including diarrhea, food poisoning, and dyspepsia. Pharmacological investigations have identified several active phenolic compounds in the bark, such as (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, (+)-gallocatechin, (-)-epicatechin gallate, (-)-epigallocatechin gallate, gallic acid, and protocatechuic acid. These constituents contribute to the drug's antimicrobial and immunostimulating activities. In vitro studies using the Simulator of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem (SHIME®) suggest that *Okoubaka aubrevillei* exerts a systemic activating effect on the intestinal microbiome, enhancing resistance against colonization by pathogens such as enterotoxigenic *Escherichia coli* (ETEC) and *Salmonella enteritidis*. It is commonly prepared as a mother tincture or in various homeopathic potencies (e.g., 3X, C12).
