OL-003

OL-003 is a preclinical small molecule drug candidate being developed by Oleolive for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It functions as a dual agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors delta (PPAR-δ) and gamma (PPAR-γ). Unlike traditional thiazolidinediones (TZDs), OL-003 is a non-TZD compound designed to cross the blood-brain barrier effectively at low concentrations while avoiding common TZD-related safety issues. The drug aims to address the multi-faceted pathology of Alzheimer's by reducing neuroinflammation, correcting metabolic dysfunction and insulin resistance in the brain, and impacting amyloid-beta and tau protein accumulation. Originally developed at Auburn University as AU9, the compound is currently in IND-enabling studies with support from the National Institute on Aging.
