Overview

Olamepermin alfa is a recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor (rhHGF) being developed by Kringle Pharma for the treatment of vocal fold disorders, specifically vocal fold scarring and atrophy. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that plays a crucial role in tissue regeneration and repair. It exerts mitogenic, motogenic, and anti-fibrotic effects by binding to its specific receptor, c-Met. In the context of vocal fold disease, olamepermin alfa is administered via local injection into the vocal folds to promote the regeneration of the lamina propria and restore the viscoelastic properties of the vocal fold mucosa, which are often lost due to scarring or aging. By inhibiting excessive collagen deposition and stimulating the production of extracellular matrix components like hyaluronic acid, it aims to improve voice quality and function in patients with limited treatment options.
