Drug intelligence / Profile preview
olatorepatide + alirocumab is an investigational combination therapy being developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of obesity and associated cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypercholesterolemia. The combination consists of olatorepatide (HS-20094), a once-weekly dual glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist licensed from Hansoh Pharma, and Praluent (alirocumab), a marketed proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor monoclonal antibody. Olatorepatide promotes weight loss by regulating appetite, glucose metabolism, and energy balance, while alirocumab significantly lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. By combining these two mechanisms, the therapy aims to deliver robust body weight reduction alongside substantial lipid-lowering effects, addressing a critical therapeutic gap in cardiovascular risk management for patients with obesity.
