Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Olea europaea pollen polymerized extract is a glutaraldehyde-modified allergen immunotherapy (allergoid) derived from olive tree (Olea europaea) pollen. Developed by Inmunotek and ROXALL Medizin, it is designed for subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) to treat moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and asthma induced by olive pollen sensitization. Chemical polymerization of the allergen extract with glutaraldehyde reduces its IgE-binding capacity (antigenicity) while preserving its immunogenicity, thereby enhancing safety and tolerability. This allows for accelerated up-dosing schedules and the administration of higher allergen doses to induce long-term immune tolerance.
