Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oleiferoside C is a natural triterpenoid saponin of the oleanane type, isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of *Camellia oleifera*. Structurally, it is characterized by an oleanane-type aglycone with sugar moieties attached to the C-3 position. Research has demonstrated that oleiferoside C possesses potent in vitro cytotoxic activity against various human tumor cell lines, including lung cancer (A549), melanoma (B16), hepatocellular carcinoma (BEL-7402), and breast cancer (MCF-7), with reported IC50 values below 10 µM. It is being investigated for its potential as a lead compound in oncology for the treatment of various solid tumors.
