Overview

Oleosol is an ozonized hydroalcoholic emulsion developed by the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas (CNIC) in Cuba for topical and surface sanitization. It is formulated using ozonized sunflower oil technology, which generates peroxidic species such as ozonides and aldehydes that possess potent, broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties. Developed as part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Oleosol functions as an antiseptic by disrupting microbial cell membranes and denaturing proteins through oxidative stress. It is used for hand disinfection and the sanitization of surfaces to prevent the spread of infectious agents.
