Overview

Olimel N9E is a multi-chamber parenteral nutrition emulsion designed for intravenous administration. Developed by Baxter, it consists of three separate compartments containing a lipid emulsion (refined olive oil and refined soybean oil), an amino acid solution with electrolytes, and a glucose solution with calcium. The "N9" designation indicates a high nitrogen content (approximately 14.2 g/L), while the "E" signifies the inclusion of electrolytes. It is specifically formulated to meet the high protein requirements of patients, particularly those in the early phase of acute critical illness, while providing a balanced supply of energy and essential nutrients. Due to its high osmolarity (approximately 1500 mOsm/L), it is intended for administration via a central vein.
