Overview

Olinvacimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), also known as KDR. By binding to VEGFR2, olinvacimab blocks the interaction of VEGF ligands with the receptor, thereby inhibiting angiogenesis—the process by which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels. This antiangiogenic activity is intended to restrict tumor growth and metastasis by depriving tumors of their blood supply. Olinvacimab has been investigated primarily for the treatment of glioblastoma and triple-negative breast cancer, among other solid tumors. The drug was originally developed by PharmAbcine and has orphan drug status for glioblastoma[1][3][7].
