Overview

Olmesartan medoxomil + amlodipine + hydrochlorothiazide is a fixed-dose combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains three active ingredients: - Olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), which blocks the action of angiotensin II and relaxes blood vessels. - Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), which inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation. - Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic that increases urine output by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal tubules of the kidney. This combination lowers blood pressure through complementary mechanisms—vasodilation and reduction of fluid volume. The drug is taken orally and is indicated for patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or dual therapy[1][3][6].
