Overview

Olodaterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist (LABA) used as a bronchodilator for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It works by selectively binding to and activating beta2-adrenoceptors in the lungs, leading to increased intracellular cAMP, activation of protein kinase A, and subsequent relaxation of airway smooth muscle. This results in bronchodilation and improved airflow for patients with COPD. Olodaterol is administered via oral inhalation once daily using a special inhaler device[1][2][5][8]. It is not indicated for acute exacerbations or asthma monotherapy.
