olorigliflozin

Olorigliflozin (HEC44814) is a small molecule sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor developed by Sunshine Lake Pharma (HEC Pharm) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By selectively inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, the drug reduces the reabsorption of filtered glucose and lowers the renal threshold for glucose, thereby promoting urinary glucose excretion and reducing plasma glucose levels. This mechanism of action is independent of insulin secretion, providing a complementary approach to existing antidiabetic therapies. Olorigliflozin has advanced into Phase 3 clinical trials in China, where it is being evaluated for its efficacy and safety as a monotherapy and in combination with other glucose-lowering agents.
