Overview

Olpadronic acid is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate, a derivative of pamidronate, that functions as an inhibitor of bone resorption. It has been investigated for its use in conditions characterized by excessive bone breakdown, such as hypercalcemia of malignancy and Paget's disease of bone. Its mechanism involves inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for bone resorption.
