OLX-23020 (also known as OLX104C) is an investigational asymmetric small interfering RNA (asiRNA) therapeutic developed by OliX Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The drug utilizes OliX's proprietary RNA interference (RNAi) technology to specifically target and silence the mRNA of the androgen receptor (AR). By reducing the expression of AR in the hair follicles of the scalp, OLX-23020 aims to prevent the miniaturization of hair follicles triggered by the binding of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to the receptor, thereby promoting hair regrowth and slowing the progression of male and female pattern baldness. OLX-23020 is designed for local administration via intradermal injection to maximize efficacy at the site of hair loss while minimizing systemic exposure and potential hormonal side effects. As of 2024, it is in Phase 1 clinical development.
