OLX10010 is an investigational asymmetric small interfering RNA (siRNA) duplex with a cell-penetrating moiety attached to the 3' end of the sense strand, classified as a cell-penetrating asymmetric siRNA (cp-asiRNA). It specifically targets human connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), also known as CCN2, which plays a key role in the development of hypertrophic scars and other fibrotic diseases. By binding to CTGF mRNA, OLX10010 induces its degradation via RNA interference mechanisms, thereby reducing CTGF protein expression. This mechanism aims to prevent or reduce hypertrophic scar formation following surgery. The drug is administered intradermally and has shown significant improvement in scar appearance compared to placebo in Phase 2a clinical trials. Developed by OliX Pharmaceuticals, OLX10010 is being evaluated for safety and efficacy primarily for hypertrophic scar treatment[1][3][4][5].
