Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Olzep is a brand of omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) developed and marketed by Arges Life Science Limited. It is a small molecule drug that irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system (the gastric proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach. By blocking the final step of acid production, it effectively reduces gastric acidity. Olzep is indicated for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and hypersecretory conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used for the prevention and treatment of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers.
