Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OLZOX is a generic formulation of olmesartan medoxomil, marketed by Lloyd Healthcare. It is a small molecule angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and the preservation of kidney function in patients with diabetes. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, OLZOX inhibits the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to reduced blood pressure and improved blood flow. It is typically administered orally and is available in strengths such as 20mg and 40mg.
