Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OmaliRel is a humanized IgG1κ monoclonal antibody developed and manufactured by Reliance Life Sciences as a biosimilar to the reference product omalizumab. It functions by selectively binding to human immunoglobulin E (IgE), specifically targeting the FcεR1 epitope. This binding prevents free circulating IgE from interacting with high-affinity IgE receptors (FcεRI) on the surface of mast cells and basophils, thereby inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine that drive the allergic cascade. Administered via subcutaneous injection, OmaliRel is approved in India for the treatment of moderate-to-severe allergic asthma, chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
