Overview

OMass Therapeutics is developing a small molecule inhibitor of cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) for the treatment of various immunological disorders. cGAS is a key cytosolic DNA sensor that, upon binding to double-stranded DNA, produces the second messenger cGAMP. This messenger subsequently activates the STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) pathway, leading to the production of Type I interferons and other pro-inflammatory cytokines. By inhibiting cGAS, OMass aims to treat interferonopathies and other autoimmune conditions where the cGAS-STING pathway is chronically overactive. The program was identified using OMass's proprietary OdyssION™ native mass spectrometry platform, which allows for the study of protein-ligand interactions in a native-like environment, facilitating the discovery of inhibitors for challenging intracellular targets.
