Overview

Ombipepimut (DSP-7888) is an investigational peptide-based cancer vaccine developed by Sumitomo Pharma. It is designed to target the Wilms' tumor 1 (WT1) protein, which is overexpressed in various hematologic and solid malignancies. The vaccine consists of two synthetic peptides: adegramotide (a MHC class I-restricted peptide) and nelatimotide (a MHC class II-restricted peptide), formulated as an emulsion. This combination is intended to induce a robust immune response by activating both cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) and helper T-lymphocytes against WT1-expressing tumor cells. While it reached Phase 3 clinical trials for glioblastoma, development in that indication was discontinued in 2021 following a lack of efficacy in the pivotal study. Development for other indications, including acute myeloid leukemia and solid tumors, has also been largely discontinued.
