Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an oral **combination regimen** consisting of six direct-acting antiviral agents—**ombitasvir**, **paritaprevir**, **ritonavir**, **dasabuvir**, **sofosbuvir**, and **ribavirin**—investigationally combined for the treatment of **chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection**. Ombitasvir is an NS5A inhibitor that disrupts viral RNA replication; paritaprevir is an NS3/4A protease blocking viral polyprotein processing; ritonavir acts as a pharmacokinetic enhancer of paritaprevir by inhibiting CYP3A; dasabuvir is a non-nucleoside NS5B polymerase inhibitor targeting viral replication; sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor, also suppressing RNA replication; and ribavirin is a nucleoside analog with broad antiviral effects, thought to enhance virologic response. This regimen targets multiple steps in the HCV lifecycle for a synergistic antiviral effect. Such a six-drug combination is not standard nor approved under any single commercial brand but represents an advanced multi-mechanism antiviral approach to refractory or investigational cases of HCV.
