Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination antiviral therapy used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, particularly genotypes 1 and 4. This regimen combines three direct-acting antivirals (ombitasvir, paritaprevir, ritonavir) with ribavirin. Ombitasvir is an HCV NS5A inhibitor that prevents viral replication, paritaprevir is a protease inhibitor that decreases viral load, ritonavir serves as a pharmacokinetic enhancer to boost paritaprevir levels, and ribavirin is an antiviral medication that works in combination with the other drugs. The combination has demonstrated high cure rates (91-100%) in clinical trials.
