Omecamox sodium is a selective relaxant binding agent (SRBA) developed by Zhejiang Xianju Pharmaceutical. It is a modified cyclodextrin derivative designed to rapidly reverse neuromuscular blockade induced by aminosteroid non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, such as rocuronium and vecuronium. The drug works by encapsulating the muscle relaxant molecules in the plasma in a 1:1 ratio, thereby lowering the concentration of free relaxant and facilitating its removal from the neuromuscular junction. This mechanism provides a faster and more reliable recovery from anesthesia compared to traditional acetylcholinesterase inhibitors like neostigmine, and it is specifically intended to avoid the side effects associated with muscarinic receptor activation.
